Creating a wearable art piece that tells the spiritual journey of those being ordained was a lovely challenge, one that meant listening, collaborating and presenting the new celebrants with a number of design choices.

The four symbols Jonathan wished to have included in his stole were: a vine, the Celtic cross, a diversity of people and a wild goose, which symbolized the wild and adventurous activity of the Holy Spirit. Jonathan had been introduced to this symbol in Iona, Scotland.

The significant symbols that Tim wished to have included in his stole were those of the pulpit of his home church in Wisconsin, a Franciscan cross, water and the community of the people of God.
